QUANTERGOS Principles
The QUANTERGOS philosophy is based on the industrial hygiene hierarchy of controls. (HOC). HOC emphasizes the elimination or mitigation of workplace hazards through engineering design changes before relying on administrative controls or interventions. In other words, it is more effective to change the design of a job to use lifting assist equipment or to reduce the load (engineering design approaches) than to train employees on good lifting mechanics (an administrative intervention) and then rely on a behavioral change. It is well recognized that in some situations engineering controls are not feasible and administrative or behavior-based controls are the only feasible way to to reduce ergonomic risk factors.
Employee wellness programs are a key component of healthy workplaces. However, workplace wellness programs should complement an existing ergonomics program that is proactive in identifying workplace factors that cause or contribute to injury risk.
